Career Choices - Financial Control Jobs:

Do you want to become a Financial Controller in a large corporate, a division or subsidiary or as NO.1 in an SME? Maybe you aspire to become a Finance Director with a strong commercial focus, and if so cutting your teeth at FC level is a great way to get the experience. As an FC you will be responsible for both processing transactions and data and analysing the output to enable the business to continuously monitor its performance. You may be managing a accounts team and you will have the responsibility for providing monthly, quarterly and annual reports to a variety of stakeholders within the business.

A financial control job is often an excellent entry point for newly qualified accountants who have had no previous experience within the industry, as it allows them to learn quickly about all aspects of the company and industry.

  • Preparation of Annual Budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Preparation of Monthly management accounts
  • Performance analysis by product/service, department or employee
  • Development of financial monitoring procedures and setting KPI's
  • Minimising working capital requirements
  • Continuous reporting on key ratios and control factors
  • Preparation of annual statutory financial accounts
  • Assistance to company secretary on finance related issues
  • Advice on systems and controls
  • Analysis and schedules in preparation for annual audit
  • Specialist third party reports in support of bank covenants, credit applications etc
  • Financial management of property issues, insurances and employee benefit packages
  • Project management support requiring specialist financial expertise
  • Financial model creation and development

You will be an experienced Financial Controller and be comfortable working with a portfolio of clients of all types and sizes including business start-ups. You will be hands-on and be prepared to get involved with all aspects of the finance function. You will be computer literate with good experience of Sage products or equivalent and you will be Excel proficient.
